500, and we stopped counting. 500. we pride ourselves on making the whole 2 hours Keene says for trick or treating. We ended with 2 pieces of candy. Everyone on the block knew it would be BIG, as the weather was so warm. 75 degree warm. So, there’s no reason to stop. No doubles of kids, and everyone said, “Thank you.” Kendall Rd. is known for being welcoming to trick-or-treaters. Some big apartment complexes are nearby, with kids that don’t have as much. So long ago, someone started to really go crazy with decor, and there are several fabulous block parties for kids also. Loud music, if I never hear the Monster Mash again, it will be too soon. The ER is possibly filled with children in sugar comas with big smiles.

For some reason, the Shadow Lake Ghost Bridge is a big attraction. That’s because the GPS doesn’t show it as a footbridge. Kids love it when parents and guardians slowly drive behind them and get stuck there, and they run across and ditch the parents and guardians. At 7pm, quiet. Nobody (which is good as anyone else was getting instant oatmeal packets.) Anyone new that moves in is warned and told, “If you don’t want to do it, just turn off your porch light.” Mark and I love it. Mark is suddenly Officer Mark again, planning it like D-Day. “We’ll have more. The weather is too good.” Also, he has a chair, and he puts out a selection of candy on a “short” table (for the little ones). It’s his Covid measure (no one else does it, but he is!). The little ones get confused trying to pick one, but the other kids get it! The little ones come early, so Mark has goodie bags for the first 100. As you can tell, we love it.

Many people pick up a bag of candy monthly for the entire year to spread costs out. Others can’t wait to show their new decor additions! Mark loves to sit there, refill the table, and talk to every child. Some are in a hurry. But the little ones like to have him guess the costume. It’s harder now since the Elsa years.
