So, my eclipse glasses were recalled, but I had a panoramic movie which was pretty darn good.

I had seen photographs only of the shadow of the eclipse. It was shadows on the back of a horse, caused by the horse sitting under a tree.

I had the hope that perhaps a bit of the shadow might reflect on our neighbors large white fence.

My husband was on a very important work call. His co workers were not on the path of great solar viewing, so they weren’t as excited as he was, but I pointed out it was only a few minutes.

As soon as I became aware of how lucky we were to have neighbors that put up such a terrific white fence around their pool…I began to yell, “IT IS WORKING! IT WORKS!! GET OUT HERE NOW!!” My husband was “What should I tell them?” and I said “Oh tell them you have to take a dump!”

My problem was I hadn’t noticed all my neighbors were also in their backyards. I was just really excited.

The shadows changed shape all through the eclipse. It was fascinating and worked far far better than I had imagined.

If anyone decides to write in the comment section all the science behind the optics , as I can’t really explain it. But, next eclipse, probably not here, putting up a large white sheet or painting a wall white might be a good thing to try.
